rhéō 17 – I NV I TA T I O N to a J O U R N E Y

Rhéō 17 revisits the period of the modernist movement on the nexus of the desire for a change in the world – based on the core idea of the modernist era that the world has to be fundamentally rethought, seeking new forms of expression and the belief that spiritual artistic approach improves human condition.

Rhéō is taking its premise from the aphorism “panta rhei”(everything flows), while the concept of the collection is based on the study of the flow of matter, as ‘soft solids’ in rheology.
Rhéō 17 is an analogy to spiritual modernism and it’s main inspirational sources include landscape architecture and geological formations.
The research for modernist spirituality focused on landscape artist Roberto Burle Marx’s emblematic work as a painter, print maker, ecologist.[The Mineral Roof Garden 1983]. The sensation of mobility, use of dynamic patterns and undulating geometry inspired the pattern transformations and print of the collection. The wavy camouflage-like textile print is inspired by structural and surface modifications,  landscape formations, such as the Richat Structure [Eye of the Sahara]-a prominent circular feature, that was hiding in plain sight for millennia, being visible only from space-or the wavy cloud pattern of the Great Red Spot on Jupiter, a storm region of complex and variable wave motion.
